Yesterday the senior class went for a short journey up the road to the American Folk Park. This term the class have been studying the Irish Famine as well as looking at emigration during that time. We have also been reading 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' and Wildflower Girl' written by Marita Conlon-McKenna, which are books based on the famine and emigration to America. The Folk Park currently have an exhibition on these books. The children enjoyed a journey around the various parts of the Folk Park, lead by our guide Tom who was impressed by their knowledge on the subject, as well as exploring the exhibition after lunch.
